Guido Sampermans - Graduated in 1980 as a general dentist from the University of Leuven, Belgium. In 1986, he started his private orthodontic office in
Belgium and in 1997 an office in Heinsberg, Germany. From 2003 to 2010, he led an orthodontic office in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
He currently is working and teaching in Vienna, Austria. His office is considered a state-of-the-art orthodontic office, including progressive concepts about service and efficiency using the latest digital developments.
Dr. Sampermans has first-class knowledge and extensive experience with pre-adjusted appliance systems {Andrews, Roth, MBT, Roncone). He has worked with active self-ligating bracket systems since 2003, finishing over 7500 cases with this system. Since 2003, he has been a speaker at more than 30 orthodontic congresses worldwide.
Clinical excellence and efficiency using an active self-ligating bracket system
This lecture focuses on Dr. Sampermans' clinical experiences working over the last 11 years with active self-ligating brackets, having finished over 5000 cases with this type of bracket. The freedom of sliding using thin heat-activated super elastic wires changed the treatment procedure dramatically. The interaction of the clip and bigger rectangular wires overcomes many previous torquing problems. This very clinical lecture using several patient examples, gives a detailed overview of diagnosis, treatment planning, wire sequences and mechanics using self-ligating bracket systems, along with lots of clinical tips and tricks.
Course Objectives:
• Historical review of the pre-adjusted appliance system
• Changes in treatment planning: asymmetric extractions
• Advantages of self-ligating bracket systems
• Clinical use of friction and binding
• Prescription selection
• Differences between passive and active self-ligating systems
• Important keys to bracket placement with recommendations for direct and indirect bonding
• Leveling and aligning, including extraction and non-extraction treatment and arch wire sequencing
• Accurately and efficiently establish a stable arch form and coordinating arch wires
• Efficient space closure using light force sliding mechanics and loop mechanics
• Finishing with predictable and precise clinical outcomes
